Tempting Tuesday Tonight at Deadwood’s Adams House
I just had a visit from Anne Rogers, Deadwood's cutest educator/publications guru (see below). She dropped by for some work stuff, but in the process of talking to one of my coworkers they got on the subject of Christmas gifts. "Oh, tonight we're having the special shopping night at the Adams House store!" she said. "They're doing specials - I've already raided the fifty-cent basket - and free gift wrapping."
Finding Black Hills Gifts
Before we headed out on our great Midwest roadtrip, my wife suggested that we put together some small gift bags to leave with all of the friends and family we were planning on staying with. In exchange for a night in a guest room and some home-cooked meals, it seemed like a good idea. After we counted up our potential hosts, we ended up with a list of eight. Let's just say that this is one epic trip.
Indian Food in the Black Hills
I love to sample the local food when I visit new places. It's a good thing, too. My wife is so opposed to dining at McDonald's while we're traveling that she'd probably divorce me if I thought too hard about a Big Mac. Naturally, there are a lot of good restaurants in downtowns, city centres and where ever else tourists are likely to travel. But in my experience, the best food is usually found at little out-of-the-way places, where regular customers are more likely to be locals.
