Rapid City is taking its presidential theme to extremes. First, there’s Mount Rushmore, of course. Then there’s the City of Presidents, a project to place bronze presidential statues on just about every downtown streetcorner.
The newest presidential thing is the Festival of Presidents, which takes place among the bronzes June 27 and 28.
It’s more about the festival than about the presidents, though. A good excuse to have a party. There will be live entertainment, arts and crafts, a parade and a children’s show.
The Suspects, a local rock band, and 1970s legends Badfinger will perform on Friday night. Wyoming bluegrass picker Jalan Crossland, 1980s country-rockers Highway 101 and nationally known country duo Pirates of the Mississippi will wrap up the event Saturday night.
