After my post on people’s Mount Rushmore videos getting posted to YouTube, I did a little more digging into my search results and found this gem. I can’t believe I skipped past it the first time.
This animated Mount Rushmore spoof is pretty popular. According to the latest stats, it’s nabbed over 1.1 million views since it was posted last March. Personally, I find that amazing, considering Mount Rushmore National Memorial itself pulls in about three million visitors a year. The message is clear: if the National Park Service could get George, Tom, Abe and Teddy to harmonize and do a little singing, they could really boost visitation. Time for the feds to pull in some CG guys.
But until the NPS figures out how to make the big guys dance, we’ve got YouTube. There are a handful of other animated Rushmores hanging out, too, so browse around. If you’re interested in visiting Rushmore, shooting some of your own video and bringing it to life, let me know. I’d love to have a video contest one of these days.
