Girl Meets Cowboy Chris Roberts Promo Still

I’m not much of a reality show guy. In fact, the only reality programming I’ve ever really liked was Spike’s Joe Schmo, and what made that so compelling was the fact it was scripted.

That said, I’m intrigued enough by Girl Meets Cowboy, WE’s new romantic reality show premiering this Sunday night at 8 p.m. MDT, to tune in. The premise of program isn’t anything new: four big city girls are corralled on a remote ranch to compete for the affections of a genuine rural cowboy. I’ll be honest: the very thought of this plot line nearly inspires my gag reflex, and I’m not alone. It wouldn’t ordinarily be my first-choice for Sunday night boob-tubing.

However, the cowboy of the first episode is Deadwood’s own Chris Roberts. Chris is a pretty familiar face around town, so it’s a bit surreal to suddenly see his stubbly visage on most of WE’s promotional materials for Girl Meets Cowboy. I’ll admit, it’s got me interested.

It’s got most of Deadwood’s citizens interested, too. They’re getting together this Sunday night at 7 p.m. at the Bodega Saloon on Main Street for an informal night out at the saloon viewing party. If you’re going to be in town this weekend, consider stopping by. Even if you’re not a big reality show fan, it’ll be a good chance to mingle with some of the locals and observe how the town’s people interact. If you’ve never met any native Deadwood residents before, trust me: it’s a travel experience you’ll remember for a while. And since the saloon is to Deadwood what the pub is to the UK, you’re bound to get a good taste of local color.

I had a class with this guy. I remember him talking about being selected for a Reality TV show.

I watched the show with my girlfriend who went to school with him at BHSU. She was completely stuck to the TV. If they could make a reality TV show with a cast that knew every person in America… now that would be a money maker.

Ain’t it the truth that nice guys finish last but as an “old fashioned country girl” I know it’s worth the wait because what doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger.
